About
Ettore Giammatteo is an Italian photographer based in Bologna. He began exploring analogue photography in 2019 and, in the following years (2020–2022), further developed his photographic language at Spazio Labò, where he created the project Non è la fine del mondo. His work moves between documentary photography, portraiture, and visual storytelling, with a particular interest in memory and time.
In Voyager SNC he brings together personal archives and scientific imagery, taking the Golden Record carried aboard the Voyager probes as his starting point. The project was exhibited as part of the OFF programme at Riaperture PhotoFestival 2022 in Ferrara, won the Best Portfolio alla BFF – Biennale della Fotografia Femminile 2026 and received a Special Mention at the PhEST Pop-Up Open Call, leading to its exhibition in Monopoli as part of PhEST 2025.
In 2023, he began Alle sei del mattino, a project that brings together portraits of people shortly after waking and accounts of their dreams.
In 2026, he began Please, don’t be cloudy!, a long-term analogue photography project dedicated to the three solar eclipses visible in Europe between 2026 and 2028. The first chapter, photographed in Doniños, Galicia, explores the anticipation and shared experience of witnessing the eclipse.
